Barrasso Praises Luthi Appointment

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Barrasso , R-Wyo., today praised the appointment of Randall Luthi as Director of the Minerals Management Service for the U.S. Department of the Interior.

“I’m very happy for Randall,” Barrasso said. “I know he will do a fantastic job in his new role. His Wyoming background provides him a unique understanding of the role of the federal government in managing our nation’s natural resources, and the importance of mineral royalties.”

Luthi is currently deputy director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and once served as speaker and majority leader of the Wyoming House of Representatives. He previously served in the Department of the Interior and at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Mineral Management Services is the federal agency that manages the nation’s natural gas, oil and other mineral resources on the outer continental shelf. The agency also collects, accounts for and disburses more than $8 billion per year in revenues from Federal offshore mineral leases and from onshore mineral leases on Federal and Indian lands.
