WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Barrasso, R-Wyo., welcomed news from Preserve America that the Cheyenne Heritage Education Project will receive a grant of more than $52,000 to educate the public about the city’s storied past.

“This grant will go a long way to educating visitors to our state capital about our rich history,” Barrasso said. “I’m pleased the Preserve America initiative has embraced the important work of the Cheyenne Heritage Education Project.”

The grant will be used to research and write interpretative and educational materials, design and install twenty-one historical markers, and print both walking and driving tour pamphlets for distribution to the 1.5 million tourists who visit Cheyenne every year.

Preserve America is a federal initiative that encourages and supports community efforts in the preservation and enjoyment of America ’s priceless cultural and natural heritage. The goals include a greater shared knowledge of the nation’s past, strengthened regional identities and support for the economic vitality of our communities.
