Barrasso Announces New Spokesperson

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) announced that Bronwyn Lance Chester has joined his staff as communications director and chief spokesperson for the Senate Republican Policy Committee. 

Lance Chester will oversee media affairs for Barrasso’s personal office, leadership and Committee on Indian Affairs.

“Bronwyn is a seasoned professional and will bring a unique set of talents to our team,” said Barrasso

Bronwyn most recently served as communications director and speechwriter for U.S. Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.). Prior to that, she spent four years as communications director and speechwriter for U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), and was the Republican spokeswoman for the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. She also served as communications director and speechwriter for U.S. Sen. John Warner (R-Va.) and the Senate Armed Services Committee until Warner’s retirement in 2009. 

Earlier in her career, Bronwyn was an editorial writer and op-ed columnist for The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Va. She also wrote a national column for Knight-Ridder/Tribune and McClatchy-Tribune.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College, and her masters of public administration from Old Dominion University. 

Lance Chester replaces Emily Schillinger who was recently named press secretary to Speaker of the House John Boehner.
