Barrasso Votes to Stop Back Door Cap and Trade

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement after voting in support of the McConnell-Inhofe Amendment:

“Each day, more Americans and their elected representatives in Congress speak out against excessive Washington regulations that make it harder for the private sector to create new jobs and lower energy prices.

“Today, a record number of Senators voted to stop the EPA from implementing a job crushing back door cap and trade policy.  Despite falling short of the 60 votes needed to stop the Administration from moving forward, it is a momentous vote.

“I will continue to fight any unnecessary regulation that grows Washington while penalizing America’s small business owners and workers.”

Earlier today, Senator Barrasso spoke on the floor in favor of the McConnell-Inhofe Amendment.  Click here to watch his remarks.

Senator Barrasso is a member of both the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
