WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) announced that he has appointed Wyoming State Auditor, Rita Meyer to serve on his Service Academy Nominations Board.
“Rita’s 23 years of honorable service in the Wyoming Air National Guard makes her a terrific addition to the board. She knows how important it is for applicants to be highly motivated and possess strong leadership skills. Rita will ensure we nominate Wyoming’s best and brightest to attend America’s service academies.”
The Service Academy Nominations Board is responsible for interviewing all qualified Air Force, Naval, Merchant Marine, and Military service academy applicants. The board then makes recommendations to Senator Barrasso on which applicants they believe are most qualified to be nominated to the academies. From there, Senator Barrasso chooses applicants to nominate to the respective service academies each year. For more information on how students can apply please contact my office at 202.224.6441.
The current members of Senator Barrasso’s board are:
Susan Thomas, Casper
Jim Craig, Sheridan
Hank Castillon, Mayor, Green River
Pete Illoway, State Representative, Cheyenne
Rita Meyer, State Auditor, Cheyenne
This year’s board will meet on Saturday, December 11th in Casper to interview this year’s applicants.
