WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) sent a letter to Chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality Nancy Sutley. In the letter, Barrasso questioned the Administration’s attempt to implement job killing cap and trade policies through backdoor rules and regulations.
Earlier this month, Barrasso introduced the Defending America’s Affordable Energy and Jobs Act. Barrasso’s bill would stop Washington bureaucrats from regulating greenhouse gases for the purpose of addressing climate change without specific Congressional authorization.
“The Defending America’s Affordable Energy and Jobs Act is gaining more support every day,” said Barrasso. “As this bill continues to make its way through the Senate, I will continue to ask tough questions of the Administration about its ongoing effort to implement regulations that crush jobs and strangle economic growth. The American people and small businesses deserve transparent information about steps taken in Washington that will increase their bills and impact their communities.”
Barrasso specifically mentions a report authored by the White House Interagency Climate Change Adaptation Task Force which proposes actions that will kill jobs, weaken our energy security and decrease economic growth.
