Spitzer’s decision comes one day after Barrasso introduced a bill that would discourage those few states that currently issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants by withholding 10 percent of federal highways funds.
“The bill I introduced says states that give driver’s licenses to someone who has broken the law by coming into the country illegally will lose 10 percent of their highway funds,” Barrasso told Fox News in an interview today. “It would not go back to the treasury, it would go to the other states that comply with the law.”
