WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement after meeting with President Obama’s pick for Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, Judge Sonia Sotomayor :

“Judge Sotomayor has an extensive judicial career with more than 17 years on the federal bench. Her background is impressive.”

“It is imperative that we have a justice who will apply the law, not write the law. I still have concerns regarding her views involving the Second Amendment and issues similar to those raised in the New Haven firefighters case.”
