Barrasso: Debt Deal is Only Round One in Spending Fight

“This debate about the debt ceiling was the first round in a 15-round fight on spending.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement after voting in favor of the Budget Control Act of 2011:

“While this agreement is a victory over more wasteful Washington spending, it’s a small one.  I fought for bigger spending cuts, stronger controls on future spending and a balanced budget amendment.  The President and the Democrat led Senate opposed us every single step of the way.

“Government still spends money it doesn’t have.  This debate about the debt ceiling was the first round in a 15-round fight on spending.  We will be back for more cuts and more accountability.”
