Barrasso: Evanston’s Historic Roundhouse Receives $30K Federal Funding

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Barrasso, R-Wyo., has welcomed news from Preserve America that Evanston ’s Historic Roundhouse will receive a federal grant of $30,000 to preserve the city’s famous landmark.

“This grant will be very beneficial to the continued preservation of the historic Roundhouse,” Barrasso said. “I commend the people of Evanston for their efforts to bring this landmark back to life.  I’m pleased the Preserve America initiative is funding this important work.”

The grant will be used to develop a comprehensive architectural design plan as well as a plan for the preservation and adaptive reuse of the “Oil House” as a visitor center.

Preserve America is a federal initiative that encourages and supports community efforts in the preservation and enjoyment of America ’s priceless cultural and natural heritage. The goals include a greater shared knowledge of the nation’s past, strengthened regional identities and support for the economic vitality of our communities.
