Barrasso Statement on DOE Approval of Freeport LNG Export License

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement regarding the Department of Energy’s (DOE) approval of a license to Freeport LNG to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) to nations that do not have a free trade agreement with the United States:

"Liquefied natural gas exports will create jobs, reduce our trade deficit, and help grow our economy. While today’s decision is welcome, it is woefully inadequate.  DOE needs to approve the other pending export applications.

“Today’s approval of only a single application in the last two years casts doubt on the Administration’s commitment to increasing American exports and the good-paying jobs they will provide."
