Barrasso: Supreme Court Right to Shoot Down D.C. Gun Ban

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Barrasso , R-Wyo., delivered the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the District of Columbia ’s ban on handguns after 32 years:

This landmark decision confirms what the people of Wyoming already know – the Constitution guarantees our fundamental right to keep and bear arms,” Barrasso said. “The second amendment is not only a value we hold dear in Wyoming , it is a way life. As a life member of the National Rifle Association, I share the belief with people across our state that the Supreme Court got it right.”

Earlier this year, for the first time in history, a majority of Congress including Barrasso, submitted an amicus curie (friend of the court) brief in the support of the District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals decision that the 2nd amendment is an individual right.
