WASHINGTON, DC –Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) announced hundreds of national, state and local endorsements of his bipartisan Federal Water Quality Protection Act, S. 1140. The Senate is scheduled to vote on the motion to proceed to S. 1140 on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 2:30 pm ET.
Several state attorneys general, the National Association of Counties, National League of Cities and hundreds of agriculture, electricity and builders associations and small-business groups have endorsed S. 1140.
Some of these groups include the American Farm Bureau Federation, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, National Association of Home Builders, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, American Public Power Association, National Federation of Independent Business and the American Road & Transportation Builders Association.
The National Federation of Independent Business and U.S. Chamber of Commerce are also scoring Tuesday’s vote on S. 1140 as a “key” vote.

Background on S. 1140:
S. 1140 directs the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Army Corps of Engineers to issue a revised “waters of the United States” (WOTUS) rule that protects traditional navigable water and wetlands from water pollution, while also protecting farmers, ranchers and private landowners.
Senator Barrasso introduced S. 1140 on April 30, 2015 with Senators Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), Pat Roberts (R-KS) and Joe Manchin (D-WV), among others. S. 1140 has a total of 46 cosponsors, including Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY). The bill passed the Environment and Public Works Committee on June 10, 2015.
