Barrasso: Americans Can’t Afford Obama’s Smoke and Mirrors Energy Strategy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) released the following statement regarding President Obama’s praise for TransCanada’s decision to build a pipeline to bring crude oil from Cushing, Oklahoma, to the Gulf of Mexico:
“In January, President Obama chose to reject TransCanada’s Keystone XL pipeline project. Today, the White House praised TransCanada for moving forward with a part of the pipeline. As usual, the White House wants to have it both ways.
“Gas prices have doubled since President Obama’s inauguration. The American people can’t afford the White House’s smoke and mirrors energy strategy.
“Until President Obama uses his authority to allow TransCanada to bring Canadian oil to the United States, his leadership will remain weak. Instead of issuing statements, he needs to take action to help the private sector create jobs and strengthen our energy security.”
